Making Use Of The Colour Of The Year – Part Two – The Best Floors To Pair With The Colour Of The Year

In the first part of our Colour of the Year blog series we looked at the feelings you can evoke with Viva Magenta – the 2023 selection. In this second part of the series, we’ll be looking at which floors are best to pair with this crimson shade to create the design style of your dreams.

As a general rule, you’ll probably be aiming for either a moody and intimate vibe, or a bright and energetic one when making use of large amounts of Viva Magenta in your space, so this piece will be broken into these two sections.

Moody / Intimate Spaces

If your goal is to make a space feel intimate or mysterious, you’re going to want to make use of dark flooring. This type of colour scheme works well in bedrooms, home theatres or anywhere else where you want to make the space feel warm and comforting such as a home library or luxurious study/office.

Mocha Oak – Reclaimed Wild Oak – Engineered Timber

One of the most luxurious options on our list today is Mocha Oak from the Reclaimed Wild Oak collection of Engineered Timber flooring. Featuring a deep shade of brown that has warm undertones, these floorboards bring a unique look to your space that cannot be replicated. This makes them ideal for master suites and high-end homes as the finish that Mocha Oak provides is premium.

When paired with Viva Magenta you can expect to create an intimate and feminine space.

Reclaimed Flooded Gum – The Eucalyptus Steps Collection – Laminate

Those looking for a more rustic look will do well to install our Reclaimed Flooded Gum Laminate floors from The Eucalyptus Steps Collection within their space. Particularly hardwearing, these floorboards are ideal for high traffic areas such as lounge rooms and hallways as well as studies.

When paired with Viva Magenta Reclaimed Flooded Gum will create a warm and inviting space.

Grey Chevron – Masterpieces – Laminate

If you’re looking to design a space that screams elegance, our Grey Chevron Laminate flooring from the Masterpieces collection is the ideal choice. Offering soft grey tones supported by warm highlights, these floors are inspired by European Palaces, so they’re sure to add a touch of luxury to your space.

When paired with Viva Magenta, these delicate Chevron floors will create a space that offers high-end looks while balancing soothing and energising vibes.

Pebble Beach – Oatlands – Vinyl

Pebble Beach brings an almost black shade to your space and is one of the darkest offerings we currently have in our range. Featuring a waterproof surface and soft underfoot feel, these Luxury Vinyl Planks are part of our Oatlands collection.

If you’re looking to create a particularly dramatic space, Pebble Beach and Viva Magenta make the ideal pairing. We suggest installing this combination in home theatres or houses that have an ultra-modern style, but you can, of course, install them wherever you please.

Truffle – Naturale Plank 5.0 – Vinyl

Our Truffle floorboards bring rich brown tones and an extra-large size to the party. These floors are part of our Naturale Plank 5.0 collection of Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring and offer superior comfort underfoot as well as a 100% waterproof surface.

Truffle has a rather traditional look, so when paired with Viva Magenta you can expect to create a regal space.

Fossil Oak – Naturale Plank 3.0 – Vinyl

Offering deep brown tones that bring depth as well as a gentle finish to your space, Fossil Oak is perfect for helping ensure that large spaces still feel warm and inviting. As part of the Naturale Plank 3.0 collection, this floorboard is standard in size.

When paired with Viva Magenta, this Luxury Vinyl Plank can create either a romantic or dramatic vibe depending on the rest of your styling making it a wonderfully versatile combination.

Carob Oak – Ikoma – Hybrid

If maximum energy in your space is your goal, we suggest pairing Carob Oak with Viva Magenta. Found within our Ikoma collection of Hybrid flooring, Carob Oak has a 100% waterproof surface and is durable enough to stand up to everyday life.

This uplifting shade features warm coffee tones blended delicately together and can instantly level up the vibe in your space while still providing a nice dark foundation for the rest of your design.

Gum Nut – Soleil – Hybrid

On the lighter end of our dark floor offering, Gum Nut offers a unique blend of cool greys and medium browns that effortlessly mimic the stunning shade of Aussie Gum Trees. We usually love using these Hybrid floors in country chic homes, but they’re also a great way to balance out the high intensity tones of Viva Magenta.

Bright / Energetic Spaces

If you’re looking to brighten up your space, or perhaps incorporate Viva Magenta without making your space feel too dramatic, pairing it with a light coloured floor could be the ideal solution for your home.

Drift Oak – Reclaimed Wild Oak – Engineered Timber

One of the lightest shades in our collection, Drift Oak provides a bright and luxurious finish for your space. The neutral tone of these unique floors makes them particularly well suited to being paired with the 2023 Colour of the Year, as they’ll really allow it to shine in your space.

We think this combination will work fabulously in kitchens where the cabinets are painted Viva Magenta, but you can also bring rich red tones to almost any space where Drift Oak Engineered Timber flooring is installed, as this delicate blonde timber balances out the high energy vibes of the Viva Magenta shade.

Tasmanian Oak – The Eucalyptus Steps Collection – Laminate

The high shine finish of the Tasmanian Oak Laminate floorboards within The Eucalyptus Steps Collection allows you to create a particularly fun and uplifting design in your home. The jewel tones of Viva Magenta work perfectly with the colour of these Laminate floors and this combination is great for living areas, playrooms and more.

Snow Gum – The Eucalyptus Steps Collection – Laminate

If you’re looking to create sophisticated space that still has a splash of personality, our Snow Gum Laminate floors from The Eucalyptus Steps Collection is a fantastic choice to use alongside Viva Magenta. The neutral grey tones of Snow Gum add elegance to your space, while the Colour of the Year brings energy and vitality.

Sandy Oak – Naturale Plank 3.0 – Vinyl

The gentle, pale brown shades of Sandy Oak create stunning contrast with Viva Magenta. We love this colour combination for lounge areas and studies, but you can pair these two in any space of your home with confidence as they can both highlight and balance each other.

Sandy Oak is part of the Naturale Plank 3.0 collection of Luxury Vinyl flooring.

Scottsdale – Oatlands – Vinyl

If you still want your space to feel soft and inviting while also adding a pop of colour, we suggest installing our Scottsdale Luxury Vinyl Plank alongside the Colour of the Year. These floorboards from the Oatlands collection feature a waterproof surface, meaning they can be installed throughout your home, and this pairing is great for any space from bedrooms through to laundries.

Cheshire – Oatlands – Vinyl

Want to focus on bringing warmth to your home? Cheshire and Viva Magenta are the perfect couple. The warm almost orange shades of Cheshire work well to warm up your room, while the Colour of the Year takes things to the next level.

Rift Oak – Ikoma – Hybrid

Gentle creamy shades with cool blue undertones combine to create our Rift Oak Hybrid floors. When paired with Viva Magenta you can expect a striking contrast between the two that really highlights the best attributes of both your floor and the Colour of the Year.

Glacier Oak – Asha – Hybrid

If you want a super light base for your design that creates a sense of serenity while also giving you the freedom to do whatever you please with the rest of your design, Glacier Oak is the ideal choice. These durable and versatile Hybrid floors from our Asha collection feature a delicate blend of light greys and whites and create the perfect calming base for a high energy design in your space.

The final instalment of our Colour of the Year series will focus on the designs you can create using the colour of the year within your space, so if you’re after a bit more of a structured guide, be sure to keep an eye out for that one.  Or, if you’re ready to make your flooring selection, head over to our Store Locator to find your local Imagine Floors by Airstep stockist.

Good acoustic properties are important both for the health of your family and regulatory obligations. Quieter environments are better for everyone, so our Hybrid floors come with a pre-adhered underlay that helps ensure their acoustic compliance.

Floors that feature a waterproof surface are a great choice for those worried about spills or other accidents in their home. Our Luxury Vinyl Plank floorboards and Hybrid floors feature an inherently waterproof surface thanks to their water-resistant construction, while our Laminate floors enjoy a waterproof surface thanks to their aluminium oxide wear layer.

In some cases – like with our Luxury Vinyl Plank floors and Hybrid flooring – a waterproof surface also means that floorboards are suitable for installation in wet areas such as bathrooms (excluding shower bases) and laundries. This allows for the creation of a seamless design throughout your entire home – a great perk for those who want consistency in their style.

Hard floors are assigned a Class Rating based on their suitability for different situations.

When you see Class Rating 23 assigned to a floor, this means that it is suitable for installation in even the highest traffic areas of your home.

Class Rating 23 is the highest residential rating achievable and is applicable to most Imagine Floors by Airstep flooring collections.
