Crafted from 2mm thick virgin IPXE closed-cell foam, Timbermax is a multifunctional base for you to build your design upon. In addition to providing a foundation for your Laminate or Engineered Timber Floors, Timbermax also offers thermal improvement, reduces noise transmission within your space, and provides an adequate moisture barrier. In other words, this neat roll of IXPE closed-cell foam offers multiple benefits:
Provides A Moisture Barrier
Because Timbermax is crafted from IXPE, the closed-cell foam construction of this underlayment acts as an adequate moisture barrier designed to help prevent moisture from rising up through your subfloors and ruining your new floorboards. It also inhibits the growth of mould and mildew and incorporates an overlapping film for extra moisture protection at its joints.
Offers Thermal Protection
While Underlay and insulation are two completely different items that serve different purposes, that doesn’t mean that their benefits can’t overlap. Our Timbermax Underlay offers thermal improvement for your home and can act as an insulator helping to keep your floors warmer in winter and cooler in summer. This helps you consume less energy and power in the pursuit of keeping your home at a comfortable temperature.
Reduces Noise Transmission
Finally, there’s no denying that Floating Floors can be a little noisy depending on the type, how they’re installed, and what they’re installed on. That’s why Timbermax acts as a noise reductor to help ensure you can enjoy peace and quiet within your sanctuary.

Good acoustic properties are important both for the health of your family and regulatory obligations. Quieter environments are better for everyone, so our Hybrid floors come with a pre-adhered underlay that helps ensure their acoustic compliance.
Floors that feature a waterproof surface are a great choice for those worried about spills or other accidents in their home. Our Luxury Vinyl Plank floorboards and Hybrid floors feature an inherently waterproof surface thanks to their water-resistant construction, while our Laminate floors enjoy a waterproof surface thanks to their aluminium oxide wear layer.
In some cases – like with our Luxury Vinyl Plank floors and Hybrid flooring – a waterproof surface also means that floorboards are suitable for installation in wet areas such as bathrooms (excluding shower bases) and laundries. This allows for the creation of a seamless design throughout your entire home – a great perk for those who want consistency in their style.
Hard floors are assigned a Class Rating based on their suitability for different situations.
When you see Class Rating 23 assigned to a floor, this means that it is suitable for installation in even the highest traffic areas of your home.
Class Rating 23 is the highest residential rating achievable and is applicable to most Imagine Floors by Airstep flooring collections.
