SUSTAINABILITY AT IMAGINE FLOORS
At Imagine Floors by Airstep we firmly believe that it is everyone’s responsibility to help create a greener future for people and the planet. We only have one, after all, so we need to take care of it.
In line with this, we have a number of sustainable initiatives in place to help ensure that we operate in an eco-friendly manner.
We are proud to confirm that our manufacturing practices are environmentally responsible. This means that we always act in the most eco-friendly way possible, without compromising on the quality of the products that we present within our collections.
We also pair our floors with sustainable underlay options from our sister company, Airstep Australia, who have their own strict environmental ethos.
Additionally, all of our products are phthalate free, low VOC, and ISO 14001 Environmental Standard compliant making them great choices for the eco-conscious consumer. They’re also low allergen, meaning you’ll be able to create a healthier environment within your home.
In addition to being paperless wherever possible, Imagine Floors by Airstep does our best to ensure that our digital identity does not harm the planet. The main way in which we do this is by using what is known as green hosting. Essentially, this means that the server that our website is hosted within is powered by renewable energies, therefore greatly reducing its environmental impact.
We also partner with Tree Nation to ensure that our website is entirely carbon neutral. This is achieved by planting trees to offset the resources that our website (and your visit to our website) uses.
Not only does this help keep our carbon footprint as small as possible, but it also provides much needed vegetation in areas that have experienced deforestation.
As touched upon in the manufacturing and general product section, we don’t just focus on ensuring that our floorboards are eco-friendly, we want to provide a complete sustainable foundation for your interior design.
Part of this is providing environmentally responsible underlayment to accompany our floors. We do this by only sourcing our underlay solutions from companies that share the same commitment to caring for the planet as we do.
For example, many of our underlay products are sourced from our sister company Airstep Australia. Their manufacturing process spans into carpet and commercial underlays, with these products making use of 90% recycled materials in their factory based right here in Melbourne, Victoria.
We are also the proud Australian distributors of Helix 700, an underlayment option for both Vinyl and Timber floors that features a composition that is 90% wind power recycled rubber. Made in Denmark, this underlay releases zero VOCs and provides many fantastic benefits making it a wonderful and sustainable choice for your home.
ResiLoop is an initiative launched by ARFA which aims to reduce the waste produced by the resilient flooring industry. The program works to create a circular economy within the flooring sector. Imagine Floors by Airstep was engaged in the stakeholder consultations to help design the scheme and supports the product stewardship concept.
Collective action has impact. Working collaboratively across the value chain is the most effective way flooring waste can be diverted from landfill to local recycling solutions.

In addition to being crafted using eco-friendly methods, all of our Laminate flooring is crafted using environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.
We have also removed all paper inserts from our product packaging and switched to a completely digital model of information delivery for Technical Information, Installation Instructions, and Cleaning and Maintenance Guides. This greatly reduces the amount of paper products that are used in association with our flooring and saves countless trees.
Those looking for natural wood floors that are kind to the environment will find a fantastic choice in our Engineered Timber flooring collection.
Not only are Engineered Timber floorboards far more eco-friendly than their solid hardwood counterparts in general as they do not produce as much wastage, but the wood that we source for our Engineered Timber flooring also comes from regenerative forests. This means that sustainable forest management practices are followed, therefore ensuring that the planet, and our forests, are protected throughout the entire process.
We further enhance the sustainability of these floors by making use of recycled timber for the core of our floorboards. This does not compromise the integrity or quality of the product, but it does make it far more eco-friendly.
With most Vinyl flooring being made at least in part from PVC, it is vital to ensure that your chosen floorboards are phthalate-free. Not only is this important for the environment, but it is also crucial for the health of your home and your family.
At Imagine Floors by Airstep we are pleased to confirm that all of our Luxury Vinyl Plank floorboards are completely phthalate-free. We use bio-based plasticisers to craft our floors which means you get to enjoy the added durability and longevity that comes with this type of flooring, without having to worry about all those toxins leaching into your home.
Our Luxury Vinyl Planks are also resililent and designed to withstand the test of time which makes them a solid choice when you want to care for the environment by not switching up your style too quickly.
All Hybrid flooring within the Imagine Floors by Airstep collection is DIBT Certified and REACH Compliant – this means that our floorboards have met strict criteria and are held to a high standard both in terms of creating healthy environments within homes and protecting the planet.
Hybrid floors within our collection also have a low VOC rating, meaning that they won’t leach undesirable compounds into your home.
These certifications are in addition to our standard environmentally responsible manufacturing processes and we proud to be able to uphold these standards across our entire Hybrid flooring offering.
Good acoustic properties are important both for the health of your family and regulatory obligations. Quieter environments are better for everyone, so our Hybrid floors come with a pre-adhered underlay that helps ensure their acoustic compliance.
Floors that feature a waterproof surface are a great choice for those worried about spills or other accidents in their home. Our Luxury Vinyl Plank floorboards and Hybrid floors feature an inherently waterproof surface thanks to their water-resistant construction, while our Laminate floors enjoy a waterproof surface thanks to their aluminium oxide wear layer.
In some cases – like with our Luxury Vinyl Plank floors and Hybrid flooring – a waterproof surface also means that floorboards are suitable for installation in wet areas such as bathrooms (excluding shower bases) and laundries. This allows for the creation of a seamless design throughout your entire home – a great perk for those who want consistency in their style.
Hard floors are assigned a Class Rating based on their suitability for different situations.
When you see Class Rating 23 assigned to a floor, this means that it is suitable for installation in even the highest traffic areas of your home.
Class Rating 23 is the highest residential rating achievable and is applicable to most Imagine Floors by Airstep flooring collections.
